Local Policing

This point falls in the Hackney Central neighbourhood, covered by the Metropolitan Police.

Current local priorities

  • Reduce drug dealing, drug use, shoplifting, street drinking and other forms of anti-social behaviour on the Narrow Way and in St John's Churchyard.
  • (COMMUNITY NOMINATED). At the last CAP meeting, panel members raised the following concern: drug dealers, drug users and street drinkers in the area of Pembury Place, Dalston Lane and Amhurst Road. This is occurring almost daily at various times. Panel members and local residents have requested daily patrols in problem locations. A mixture of high-visibility and plain clothes foot patrols will be conducted to counter the problem. Hackney Central Safer Neighbourhood Team will work with the local authority and other partners to find a long-term solution to curb antisocial behaviour in the above mentioned areas.
  • (COMMUNITY NOMINATED). Ward panel members have highlighted theft from, and theft of, motor vehicles as an issue. Hackney Central Safer Neighbourhood Team will focus patrols where there has been an increase in theft from, and theft of, motor vehicles. The Hackney Central Safer Neighbourhood Team will distribute crime prevention advice leaflets and advise around target hardening. A mixture of high-visibility and plain clothes foot patrols will be conducted in problem locations.

How to Read This

Designed for travel planning, not certainty.

  • Recent street-level incidents within the selected radius are weighted by category.
  • Violence, robbery, weapons and burglary carry higher weight than lower-severity categories.
  • A stable neighbourhood baseline from the official English Indices of Deprivation crime domain anchors the score.
  • Dense central visitor areas are normalized so footfall does not automatically imply danger.
  • Improving recent trend slightly lifts the score; a rising trend lowers it.
  • The score is indicative and based only on public recorded crime data, not a guarantee of personal safety.
